Why do people celebrate Mother’s Day all over the World?

Mothers are considered net to god and their love for their children can never be gauged. They not only nurture us with love and care but also give up on all that they love and enjoy just to spend time with us and take care of us. A mother is not just a parent but also a child’s first friend, teacher and guide. When a child is born a mother equips herself to play many roles and continuously strives to give her children all the love, care and comfort. For all that a mother does, she never asks for anything in return but when we as children do small little things to thank our mother’s, they feel absolutely overwhelmed.

While there is really no need for a special day to thank our mothers, there is still the concept of Mother’s day. We can always make the most of it to surprise and delight our mommy dearest. So, before we go into what can we do to delight our moms, here’s a little background on the evolution of Mother’s day.

Previously Mother’s day used to be called Mother’s Sunday because the parishioners in the United Kingdom, used to return to the mother church on the 4th Sunday, and this day used to be celebrated as mothering Sunday.

Anna Jarvis, the daughter of Ann Reeves, after the death of her mother decided to celebrate a day, to celebrate the contribution of all mothers and she could celebrate this special day because she got some sort of a financial help from John Wanamaker, who was the retail owner in Philadelphia. Anna Jarvis wanted to celebrate the occasion of mother’s day nationally and after a lot of lobbying she finally grabbed the attention of the president Woodrow Wilson in the year 1914. Then, Woodrow Wilson decided that every year, the second Sunday in the month of May, would be celebrated as Mother’s day all over the nation.

The founder of Mother’s day, Anna Jarvis was herself not a mother. She remained unmarried and childless all her life.

Now the question which arises here is what should a son or a daughter gift his or her mother on this special day. These days, since mother’s day is celebrated all across the world, there are many online stores which have very unique gift items that you can gift your mother on the special occasion of mother’s day. While you can always order gifts for her online, you can make the day all the more special by getting her a cake too. You can order special flavored Cakes for Mother's Day in order to make your mom feel special.

If you stay far away from your mom then you can send her a mother’s day cake by ordering for one online too. This will not only make her feel special but will also make her feel that you are very near to her.

So, if you want to make this Mother’s day special for your mom, you must start planning now.
